Platelet-Rich Plasma (PRP)

$699 Single, $1,900 (Course of 3)

Although Platelet-Rich Plasma therapy, or PRP, has been around for a long time in
reconstructive surgery, dentistry, and orthopaedic medicine, it’s also used now in
dermatology and cosmetology. And the results are Fabulous.

Made famous by Kim Kardashian, PRP treatments and injections stimulate the skin
to promote regeneration for absolute radiance. Island Glow Aesthetics offers PRP
Therapy and the Vampire Facial, which consists of PRP and Skin Needling.

Perfect your skin’s texture using your own platelets!

What is Platelet-Rich Plasma Therapy?

Whether injected, microneedled, or both, PRP will trigger your own body’s natural
healing, reducing fine lines and wrinkles and improving skin’s texture and overall
tone. Platelets in blood help the body heal so once activated in therapy, they release stem cells that increase collagen production. Because of the function of platelets, PRP is sometimes referred to as ‘Facial Stem Cell Regeneration Therapy’.

For Platelet-Rich Plasma therapy, topical anaesthetic cream is applied to the area of concern, and a small amount of blood is drawn from the patient’s arm and placed in a sterile tube. As the cream starts to numb the skin, the tube is centrifuged for about ten minutes to separate the blood to extract the clear-coloured Platelet-Rich Plasma. This fluid is then activated with calcium chloride to help the growth factors along, and it’s injected into the desired areas with incredibly thin needles, much like the ones used for anti-wrinkle injections. All up, the process takes about 20 to 30 minutes.

The Vampire Facial, which is made up of skin needling and PRP, boosts the
treatment, as thousands of microchannels created by the microneedling instrument
allow the Platelet-Rich Plasma to really penetrate the epidermis and the dermis.

Decades of data back up the benefits of Platelet-Rich Plasma therapy, as the plasma has remarkable properties that improve skin texture and elasticity and remove acne scarring. We love it for its wrinkle reduction ability and how it improves complexion, texture, and brightness on the face, neck, and décolletage.

Platelet-Rich Plasma therapy has also been proven to promote hair growth for hair regeneration.

Results-wise, PRP is incredibly effective, as it promises clearer, more useful-looking skin. When the aim of the treatment is to improve skin texture, soften lines, and tighten skin, results will be noticed as soon as it heals, and dramatic improvement can be noted after several weeks.

For the most effective outcome, you’ll need at least three sessions, spaced one-to-two months apart to allow for proper healing.
